Explore Mumbai early morning when it is peaceful and far from the maddening crowd. The bustling markets, when observed in the early morning is quite exhilarating !
Hundreds of newspaper vendors sort out papers in multiple languages, auctioneers frantically gabble fish prices, and organised chaos breaks out with the arrival of over 100 tonnes of vegetables, fruits and meat at the markets. The scenes at Wee hours truly define the mercurial character of Mumbai and best of all as you walk the same lanes a few hours later, you find no evidence of the morning’s hustle.

It is a city of crazy contradictions –cheek by jowl, at once the commercial capital of India and also a ‘home’ to the homeless and the poor migrant workers. After a heavy dose of history-palaces, forts and religions- temples, churches, Mumbai is refreshingly different and ‘offbeat’.
You can visit diverse parts of the ‘living city’ where you experience a blast of colour (sarees and flags), smells (fishy and spicy- masalas) and sounds- all amidst the broadest ‘smiles’ that merge with ‘sweat’ that trickles down their faces !
No automobiles ply here – unique distinction of being the only such place in Asia. So, you enjoy this pollution- free place and go back recharged.
You can choose to walk around or be hauled around in a cart drawn by men or, better still, ride a horse. Royal ? !
The green cover ensures a pleasant stay in the cool breeze. As usual, get a panoramic view of the valleys and plains and memorable sunrises and sunsets . Romantic? !
Hiking up and trekking in the monsoons, during week-ends, is also a very popular option.
